Award-Winning short film maker, artist and author William Joyce weaves a web of Halloween magic at artspace Shreveport this October with his collection of stupendous spiders, spine tingling skeletons, spooky skulls and generally scary stuff from his Halloween parties that Martha Stewart once featured on her show. The Shreveport Regional Arts Council invites you to enter the weird, wacky Halloween world of William Joyce and get your glitter on with other ghouls, ghosts and goblins.
iNgraved: celbrating 100 years of forest park cemetary
Forest Park Cemeteries & Funeral Home CEO & Chairman Mr. Robert C. Lomison will present almost $4,000 in cash awards to NWLA artists for InGRAVED—an exhibition of visual, literary and performance works created to celebrate the 100th birthday of the historic Shreveport cemetery. The art works were inspired by the history and scenes of the cemetery where well known Louisianans including sculptress Clyde Connell, WWI Louisiana governor Ruffin G. Pleasant and the nuns of the Catholic Daughters of the Cross are buried.
Quake in paradise: echoes of nepal

Renowned Ruston artist M Douglas Walton survived the catastrophic April 25th, 2015 earthquake in Nepal. Walton was compelled to share Nepal’s beautiful, hope-filled story through his creation of powerful and inspiring paintings motivated by his transformation after surviving the catastrophe.

Iancu’s art explores disaster, tragedy, memory and vulnerability. The focus of her artspace exhibition will be the installation piece, “It’s Not Easy to Stop a Train”. This is immersive art that presents the viewer with a chance to “step into” one compartment of a crashed long distance passenger train and experience catharsis.
James Burton: master of the telecaster
THE ART OF THE GUITAR…nobody illustrates it in bolder “living color” than “The Master of the Telecaster,“ James Burton. From vivid pink paisley to flaming red hot, Burton’s guitars and his unmistakable riffs and soft bending sounds have defined rock ‘n roll for more than six decades and have made him one of the world’s greatest musical legends.
Art of the guitar: Guitar heroes
The second floor of artspace features “Guitar Heroes”, where Guitar Collectors exhibit their one-of-a-kind guitars for display. Some are pure celebrity- autographed by stars like Mick Jagger - and others are delightfully “artistic”, such as the mosaic tile Art Guitars, or the Cigar Box Guitar that really plays!
hope amid madness: Kryzstof Krol and “the windows of wolinska street”

For his solo show, Bottoms will exhibit a visual representation of his short story with images as a backdrop to lend atmosphere as well as furniture and an old tube radio reflective of the WWII Polish Resistance era which makes up the plot of his story.
The essence of things: The art of talbot hopkins

Hopkins’ solo show includes 25 works of portraiture and still-life’s with more than 15 pieces of new, never-before seen work by Hopkins-Trudeau created specifically for this show. In her words, “I believe the pieces in this exhibition reflect my love of beauty--especially that found in nature--as well as a subconscious and conscious desire for peace and simplicity.”

Art of the creole wild west mardi gras indians
Every year on Mardi Gras, the sparkling beads, jangling of tambourines, and chants of “Creole Wild West” announce to the world that the oldest Mardi Gras Indian tribe is still “masking” in New Orleans. Now Big Chief Howard Miller and his tribe bring their hand-beaded and feathered “suits” to Shreveport January through March 2017 as artists in residence with the Shreveport Regional Arts Council.
