What Lies Beneath

“What Lies Beneath” visually demonstrates the old adage of not judging based on physical appearance. Bold textures create a rough surface of displaced material, providing a three-dimensional effect, while surrounded by an undisturbed surface. The gouges remove the dull surface and reveal gold underneath, implying more treasure waits for the one who keeps digging. The gold nuggets and sparkling glitter create a beauty that changes under light, when viewed from different angles. In the classic sense, the gold is valuable and it is in all of us. We need only look deeper in people for the gold and what lies beneath.
