My niece, Chloe, is a poet and a writer. The storm is a metaphor for the creative process that the artist is continually experiencing. Chloe is a person who faces challenges with grace and confidence. The sense of calm amid a storm is something we all need during this trying time.

I was experimenting with drawing with non-traditional materials. I landed with mica powder in this drawing. The mica powder yields a rich color effect that no other medium can provide.
