During black history month my bishop Keith Robinson taught us that black folks are all over the bible. An example of this is Song of Songs/ Song of Solomon 1:5 NASB “I am back and beautiful.” As I read through Song of Songs I began to develop an idea of a beautiful black woman with braided hair adorned in jewelry. While scrolling through instagram I saw this woman’s face that matched my ideas. My normal approach is to carefully map out all the details before I begin painting. This time around I developed the painting while working on it.
