The Shreveport Regional Arts Council and artspace bring to the public a display of the artists and the art-lovers who collect their work! Artists submitted their most recent artwork to display next to their collector’s collection - creating a visual representation of their historical body of work.
Collectors each submitted statements shedding light on why they connected with the artist they collect, what informed their art purchasing decisions, and why they decided to become "art collectors”.
Do you own original art? You’re a collector, too!
It’s easier than you think.
Nationally renowned critic Robert Pincus says, “Support of art and artists through collecting is one of the vital dimensions of any community with a thriving art scene. It is also such a pleasurable form of patronage, since you get to live with that work or works of art everyday and if you so desire, to have an ongoing dialogue with the artist who made it.”
It’s about relationship, and supporting the artists you know and love.
If you have a painting that you love hanging in your home, we encourage you to keep following that artist on social media, their website, and check in on them every now and then! The best part of collecting an artist’s work is watching them grow, knowing you helped encourage their journey as a professional artist.
