MARY VIRGINIA HILL
LOUISIANA DIPTYCH: “FLOOD” AND “HALF SHELLS”
by Mary Virginia Hill
MEDIUM Acrylic on canvas
Louisiana is my home state, and its landscape is a perennial source of inspiration for me. Because we have so many rivers, lakes, and coastal waters, most years feature plenty of water and a flood or two. I remember many spectacular sunsets on the water. I also remember the first time we drove to South Louisiana and found roads and driveways made of oyster shells. Oysters, gotta love ‘em! So delicious and so useful. This diptych is a small tribute to Louisiana.
