Trust “The Process”

Artspace is thrilled to announce "The Process," running from July 12 to October 5th, featuring the remarkable works of Emily Ezell, Yuina Todman, Ibrahim Fashho, and Academy Award-winning artist William Joyce. This unique exhibition offers a behind-the-scenes look at the steps and methods artists use to create their masterpieces.

About "The Process"

"The Process" showcases the creative journeys of each artist, revealing the initial sparks of inspiration and the developmental phases leading to their final artwork. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore sketchbooks, sticky notes, rough sketches, concept drawings, and storyboards, providing a comprehensive insight into the artistic process.

Featured Artists

Yuina Todman: An abstract artist who uses paint, sand, and charcoal to create evocative works that engage in a dialogue between the visible and the invisible. Through subtle illumination, narratives of hope and despair, existence, and emptiness emerge.

Emily Ezell: Describes herself as a 'pop-swamp surrealist' creating work focused on the modern female form. She is the Assistant Professor of Painting at Grambling State University. Ezell received her BFA in Studio Art from Louisiana Tech University and her MFA in Painting from the New York Academy of Art.

Ibrahim Fashho: A sequential artist and graduate of SCAD, known for his intricate pen and ink line-work that brings fantastical figures to life.

William Joyce, renowned for his work in both literature and film, will exhibit concept work from his unreleased book "Rocket Puppies", offering a rare glimpse into his award-winning creative mind.

Alongside "The Process," artspace will also unveil Caroline Youngblood's "My Louisiana Kodachromes." Inspired by her personal collection of slide film from across Louisiana, Youngblood's life-size paintings draw viewers into a nostalgic world of vivid color and candid moments. Kodachrome, the first affordable color film developed during WWII, serves as the foundation for these works, meant to be projected and now immortalized on canvas.

"My Louisiana Kodachromes" captures the essence of anonymous photographs, creating narratives through interactions with figures and untold stories that resonate with viewers, transporting them to a bygone era.

Celebrate the opening of these exhibitions on Friday, July 12, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Artspace. Engage with the artists, explore the intricate processes behind their work, and immerse yourself in a world where creativity and nostalgia intertwine.
