Mary Catherine Rollo photographically captured the vigor and vibrancy of the February 2014 UNSCENE! residency with legendary award winning skateboarder Steve Olson. Rollo was commissioned to document Olson’s six week residency while he produced the Skateable Sculpture and exhibition “Generationless: Skateboarders Are Artists Too!”
ARTIST BIO
From my first job in 1975 as a photographer, when I purchased my initial twin lens Rolleiflex and Nikon (later Hasselblad and Mamiya - medium format cameras) I committed myself to the field of photography as a profession, with a passion. With a background including custom color and salon quality Black and White printing skills, photo re-touching, set design/product photography, photo-journalistic style images, executive portraiture, the Cotillion and Debutante photography, weddings and much more, I made it my livelihood.
Through the years I have studied with selected, highly skilled photographers with the (PP of A) Professional Photographers of America, (NEIPP) New England Institute of Professional Photography and Winona School of Professional Photography in Chicago.
After a 9 year hiatus from camera work, I picked up a camera again in 2012 to learn digital photography. I put on a new professional ‘hat’, using the trans-formative skills of digital technology.
It is unendingly expansive and thrilling!
