Joe Bluhm and Adam Volker are artists who work in the entertainment industry creating games, books, and film through animation, illustration, and storytelling. Their passions also lie in fine art and painting. “We both work in digital media the majority of our days. The one thing we agree on, one sad truth about digital painting, design, animation, illustration - is that there is no tangible piece at the end. No one sacred object exists that you can call one-of-a-kind. The beauty of this flawed object and the uniqueness of it is something that cannot be replicated. The simplicity of observing and representing objects through paint is a clear common ground. The subject matter, objects, and those which are arguably more (figures) are then asking to be discussed, though the provoking theme they are reduced to. The viewer may “object” to the objectivity of the pieces, and yet they may find pleasure and understanding in them, as is the intention.
