A VIEW OF BURANO

I want to live here” were my words when I saw Burano. Why hadn’t I been here before? I‘d boarded a Vaporetto in beautiful Venice to explore several Venetian islands and enjoyed each, but Burano, technicolor Burano, with its brightly painted buildings on each street and lane had me almost skipping along, enjoying how the hues weren’t in any formal pattern; sometimes 2- 3 colors on a single building. Shutters were open to the sea air; laundry drying on lines, bedding airing, people smiling, sitting at cafes in a huge brick-paved square. I felt as though this island had absorbed all that is wonderful about Venice and Italy... therefore this colorful painting.
