My painting is inspired by Timothy, a former ex-drug addict. I knew him when he was completely clean of drugs. After being with him for 6 months, he has had two relapses. I had never known what it was or imagined what it’s like to be with someone with an addiction. It is very painful to see how the drug takes control of his brain. Timothy became another person. His gaze is no longer the same. His face is no longer the same. It is very painful to see this process, and many times we do not know what to do.
