RESTO-MOD #1

by Dan Wasserman
MEDIUM Metal on canvas

Resto-Mod #1 was inspired by an interest in classic cars. In the past, vehicles were appointed with classic art techniques like metal leaf and pinstripes. These skills are less common today as the automotive industry trended toward easier, mass-produced customizations. My artwork reminds me of days past and methods considered as classic as the automobiles they adorned.

All the features in Resto-Mod #1 were hand-created. The design was drawn and cut from sheet metal. The silver leaf was hand-turned using cotton balls wrapped in velvet. The airbrush lines signify joining pieces of metal. The pinstripes accent the curves and body lines, like on an automobile. This piece pushed my artistic capability.

I believe the masculine nature of metalwork, and future pieces like Resto-Mod #1, will be a personal expression of collectors’ tastes. Delta Whiskey Art will continue making pieces stand out like a classic car.
