August 6, 7, 8 & 9 @ artspace
presented by the Shreveport Regional Arts Council
Arts criticism and reporting, whose impact seems cloudy in an increasingly splintered media universe, has been a vital dimension of the dynamic between artists and audience since the late 18th century. What is its present and future role in an increasingly commercialized culture? What role does arts journalism play in a regional cultural scene? In a national and international one? This three-day symposium, Conversations on Criticism, asks a range of highly respected and high profile critics, editors and reporters to address these issues from different perspectives. This symposium, one of the culminating events in a two-year Critics Series at Artspace, is sure to be of interest to arts lovers, artists in every discipline and all those who care about the future of culture.
