Laddy works in a variety of mediums but prefers gouache (an opaque watercolor) and collage on watercolor paper.  Laddy shares about his artwork that "often ideas pop up as I work and I can try them out using pieces from the scrap piles of studies lying around my studio. Many times the pop up ideas are much more interesting than what I'd intended to do ! I find a mystery and excitement in this - almost as if the pieces are springing to life on their own !"

artspace was transformed into a 1950’s Jazz Club setting for the CLUB DANTZIC Exhibition that included never-before-seen photos of 1950’s and 60’s Jazz Legends by Jerry Dantzic and a collection from the Ogden Museum of Art in New Orleans. During the 1950s, Dantzic captured the essence of New York: the musicians, showgirls, boxers, and the habitués of Coney Island, Chinatown, Broadway and other neighborhoods, as well as the city’s glamour.

STORY WITHIN - coolspace
Ryan Whitmore
"Although informally trained, I’ve exhibited my paintings frequently at small local venues, events, and restaurants around Shreveport and Bossier.   I would describe my art as Modern Mixed Media.  Each work I create tells a story.  Each painting takes many hours to complete, as it evolves- layer by layer.   I think my paintings reflect the style, struggles, and life of a modern generation growing up in Shreveport."
- Ryan Whitmore, artist

ARTSCARE - Monster Mash

November 12 - January 29, 2010
The exhibition was comprised of the highly technical miniature sets designed and built with incredible craftsmanship by MOONBOT Studios and is organized in a narrative layout so that guests can experience the film as it was made as they walk through it.  Tours of the exhibition will engage guests in the creative process that is undergone by the artists and demonstrate how an idea is refined in layers through story and character development.  Schools, families, film/animation enthusiasts, and individuals interested in story-telling through artistic mediums are encouraged to take a guided tour of the exhibition.

4 AFTER 5 - coolspace
Shreveport, LA — The 4AFTER5 art collective consists of four designers pursuing their passion for illustration after hours. Sure, they love their day jobs as graphic designers, but they’ve also had a love for art in other forms since childhood – animation, painting, comics and more. Come see what is created once they’ve clocked out!

The participating artists are Brad Campbell, Travis Eck, Jeremy Johnson and Jeff Welborn, all current residents of the Shreveport-Bossier area. The group plans to showcase a side of art not often seen in galleries. While their work ranges from comic books and strips to pop art and is expressed in a variety of mediums, there is a cohesive spirit of fun, energy and wonder that comes to life in their chosen styles.
